Explore the Arts and Express Yourself

The PTA Reflections program gives Sam Davey students a chance to express their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas through original artwork. Students can participate whether they are new to art or already love creating, and entries may receive recognition through local, state, and national PTA programs.

2026-2027 Theme: “What My Culture Means to Me”

This year’s theme invites students to think about the people, places, traditions, values, languages, foods, music, stories, and everyday moments that help shape who they are. There is no single correct way to interpret the theme. Students should create art that shares their own voice and point of view.

Sam Davey PTA will kick off Reflections on September 28, 2026. Watch for local submission details, deadlines, and program updates after the kickoff.

What Students Can Create

Students may create original work in one or more Reflections categories:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts
  • Accessible Arts

National PTA also offers an Accessible Arts participation path so students with disabilities can participate fully with division-specific accommodations.

How to Get Started

  • Choose one strong idea connected to the theme.
  • Create new, original artwork by one student.
  • Give the piece an original title.
  • Write an artist statement that explains the artwork, the student’s interpretation of the theme, and the creative choices behind the piece.
